Oman has a subtropical dry and hot desert climate. It has low annual rainfall and very high temperatures in summer. The summer lasts from June to September and the winter begins from October to April. The average monthly maximum temperature in Muscat varies between 40° Celsius in June and 25° Celsius in January.
Jebel Shams, the Sun Mountain, is the highest point in Oman. With an elevation of 3,000 meters above sea level, it is the first place to receive sunrise in Oman.
