Al Alam Royal Palace Muscat is the royal residence of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said. Also called as Qasr Al Alam Palace, it is a striking complex built in contemporary Islamic architectural design. The royal palace Muscat is used only for ceremonial purposes.
The Al Alam Palace is off limits for visitors but you can view it from outside. Take a walk through the impressive boulevard before the palace. Glance at the 16th-century Portuguese Forts of Al Jalali and Al Mirani at its either side. The royal palace is best to see when it is dramatically lit at night especially during the National Day holidays in Oman.
